A Grade Kitchen — A Transformation
Ada has always loved cooking. Whenever she travels, she enjoys exploring unique local ingredients. With an almost obsessive dedication, she journeys around the world, sourcing various ingredients from different regions, just to cook a heartfelt meal for her family and friends.
Since 2012, she has shared cooking tips, recipes, and ingredient inspirations on social media under the name A Kitchen, which later evolved into A Grade Kitchen. However, this journey of sharing quietly paused in 2019, as Ada was diagnosed in 2018 with severe wheat allergy and Food-Dependent Exercise-Induced Anaphylaxis (FDEIA).
This diagnosis completely changed her life. Everyday ingredients like bread, pasta, and soy sauce suddenly became allergens she had to carefully avoid overnight. Years of accumulated eating habits and cherished recipes seemed to have lost their purpose. She had to start from scratch, relearning how to cook safely and live without worry.
In Hong Kong, food allergies often mean limited dining options, with very few truly safe and reliable choices. Relevant information, support, and communities are also relatively scarce. Many people have heard of "food allergies" but may not know they can be severe enough to cause emergencies. To regain control over her diet, Ada began to delve into ingredient labels, search for alternative ingredients, and spend a lot of time reading literature and organizing information.
After this journey, she couldn't help but ask herself: If one person has already walked so many unnecessary paths, why not simply create a platform to help more fellow travelers enjoy delicious food more safely?
Thus, the new A Grade Kitchen was born.
We hope to offer truly thoughtful choices to everyone with an "Asian palate" who also needs to avoid allergens. A Grade Kitchen focuses on sourcing high-quality Asian and Cantonese specialty products to create a truly allergy-friendly Asian kitchen. From daily essential seasonings to classic ingredients, we want you to maintain the most familiar and authentic Asian flavors while pursuing health and safety.
No need to compromise, you can still cook food that tastes like home.
A Grade Kitchen is not just a high-quality grocery store; it also aims to be a platform where everyone can "eat safely and cook happily." We understand your Asian palate, and we understand your constraints. We are dedicated to providing truly safe allergy-free options, allowing those who "must abstain" to regain the dignity and joy of eating.
